Healthy Tip #21

Try to eat every 3-4 hours

Try to eat at least every 3-4 hours as this stops the body going into starvation mode. When we go into starvation mode the body will tend to store fat as opposed to burn it.

Two years ago I decided it was time I did something about my overall health. I was carrying a significant amount of weight and had also been suffering with a long term back condition.

I decided to join a gym and also work with a personal trainer. I knew it was not just about exercise, it was also about nutrition and overall well being, so I wanted a personal trainer that had a holistic approach. It was two years ago that I met with Daniel and he became and still is my personal trainer.

During the past two years I have lost 30 kilos and my shape and measurements have changed considerably. Whilst I have worked hard, I could not have done this without Daniel's continual support and encouragement. I can be lazy at times and I need someone like Daniel to push me to my limits.

I train with Daniel twice a week. Every training session is different so I never get bored and we enjoy some laughs along the way. Daniel's training is tailored to what I need and has changed considerably as my fitness has improved. So if you are looking for a personal trainer with a breadth of skills and experience, who well help you achieve results and has a sense of humour I can highly recommend Daniel.

I’m a Food Technologist, who formulates and develops products for major fast food restaurants. As you can imagine, my career along with poor lifestyle habits became a huge factor in my weight battle.

I began training with Daniel just when I moved up to a size 16. It’s been a little over two years now, I’m almost 25kg lighter and I’ve dropped to a size 6. Daniel’s support has been the backbone to my success. His training methods are very effective and he has made it so much easier to stay motivated and remain focused. My personal training sessions have become an invaluable part of my program and I would never consider replacing it for any other alternative.

Dan, I must say, no one has ever pushed me out of my comfort zone the way you have. You’ve changed my outlook on life and I look and feel like a totally new person. It’s been an amazing journey and I thank you for being part of it.

From what I now know to be improper swimming technique and overuse, I developed a major case of tendonitis in one shoulder. I was seeing lots of my doctor, physio, massage and my therapist. Not much was helping. I was on the verge of allowing my doctor to give me some cortisone injections directly into the joint, I was so desperate for some pain relief, when I decided to give personal training a try.

Dan was recommended to me, and after assessing my strength and movement patterns, he started me off on what seemed to be really strange and silly exercises. I was glad I had a trainer with me because I felt like such a dag. But within a couple weeks the pain started to decrease and within a few months the shoulder pain became a rarity, as opposed to the norm. After about 6 months in, Dan declared me "cured" in terms of shoulder rehab and I was back in the pool.

I've kept up the training and can honestly say I'm now in the best shape I've ever been in: I can feel how much more effectively I'm swimming, my massage therapist says there's been a major improvement in my posture, I can now feel immediately if I'm slouching and I correct it, my strength is up and my waist size down. Good results all around I'd say! I can whole heartedly and with complete confidence recommend Dan's services, whether you need to recover from an injury, or just want to improve your health.
